Recitals

A. Tutorific provides group and one-on-one tutoring services designed to improve students' academic performance.

B. Parent(s) wish(es) to engage the tutoring services of Tutorific, and Tutorific wishes to provide such tutoring services to Student. Both parties wish to set forth their respective rights and responsibilities in this Agreement.

WHEREAS, in recognition of the mutual terms and conditions set forth herein, it is hereby agreed to as follows:

Nature of Agreement

The Agreement of the parties includes the provisions of this signed document.

Commencement of Agreement

This Agreement shall commence upon the earlier of the first date on which Tutorific performed services or the date set forth next to the signatures of the Parties, or such other effective date as agreed to by the parties. To the extent that any work is performed based upon an initial verbal understanding, and that an eventual definitive written agreement is not executed, Tutorific is entitled to compensation for its work based upon the Session Rates set forth herein.

Term of Agreement

This Agreement shall continue in force between the Parties until terminated pursuant to the terms of this Agreement. Upon the termination of the initial term, this Agreement will automatically renew on a monthly basis for private tutoring and school term basis for group tutoring.

Termination of Agreement

Group tutoring:

• Students remain enrolled in group classes until the tutoring centre is contacted otherwise. 

• Term dates are determined as per the Department of Basic Education.

• Should students wish to withdraw between terms there is no penalty, as long as the next term has not commenced by the time communication has been received by the centre.

• Should students wish to withdraw once a term has commenced, they will be liable for all lessons in the term up to the date of withdrawal, plus a R150 early withdrawal fee.

Private tutoring:

• At any time, Parent may discontinue private tutoring services, without penalty, provided that all payment for services rendered to-date has been received.

Scope of Agreement

Group Lessons

• Should students miss a group class they may make it up IF a suitable class has space and is available. Otherwise lessons are forfeited.

Private Lessons

• Private lessons must be cancelled 24 hours in advance of the lesson. If cancellation is not made timeously, payment will still be due for the lesson.

• Should students arrive more than 20 minutes late the lesson will be considered forfeited and payment will be due for the lesson. Whether any academic tutoring is provided to Student during the remainder of the Session time is within the sole discretion of the Tutor.

The rate for each session type is listed below in the rate schedule table.

CAPS/IEB Grade R-12 or Cambridge IGCSE Students (2025 Rates)

• Content & Academic Skill Set - Private Tutoring: R290 per hour

• Content & Academic Skill Set - Group Tutoring: R1410 per term (discounts available if more than two group lessons per family are signed up for)

• Standardized Test Preparation (e.g. NBT etc.): R290 per hour

• Prep Rate (Curriculum design, assessments, grading, etc.): One free assessment per term, thereafter R150 per hour

• High School & College Application Assistance: R350 per hour

• Study Skills Workshop: R525 per 1.5 hour workshop

Undergraduate and Cambridge A/AS Level Students

• Content & Academic Skill Set Tutoring - Private Tutoring: R340 per hour

• Standardized Test Preparation (e.g. GRE, GMAT, MCAT): R380 per hour

Considerations

Scope of Tutoring. Tutorific shall provide education services in a variety of content areas and in learning-related skills such as study strategies, organization, motivation, and confidence. The Scope of Tutoring may be amended from time to time as agreed upon by the Parties.

Extensions, Phone Tutoring, and Additional Meetings. In-person Tutoring Extensions ( e.g. adding extra time to an existing tutoring session) and Phone or Online Tutoring are billed at the Direct Instruction Rate. Extensions to in-person tutoring and phone or online tutoring (live conversation between tutor and student) are billed in 1/ 4 session increments. Any phone tutoring session between the Student and Tutor that is less than 5 minutes is complimentary.

E-mails between tutors and parents are always complimentary. Phone calls between parents and tutors or parents and Tutorific staff that are less than 1/2 session (30 minutes) are complimentary. Phone calls greater than 1/2 session (30 minutes) will be billed at Direct Instruction Rates.

From time to time parents may request that tutors or Tutorific staff meet with teachers, school administrators or other support personnel. These meetings may occur either in-person, on the phone, or online. Parents will be invoiced Direct Instruction Rate for Tutors and Case Management Rates for Tutorific Staff based on the length of the meeting (meeting lengths are billed in 1/4 session increments).

Parents may also request tutors to spend extra time grading material, designing assessments or building specialized curriculum. These types of activities are considered additional "Prep" and are billed at "Prep Rate".

Customized Tutoring Programs. Special arrangements will be made with Parent(s) engaging Tutorific in the provision of semester-long course work, home schooling programs or other customized tutoring programs that necessitate additional and/or ongoing preparation, evaluation and communication with outside parties including but not limited to teachers, school administrators, psychological/educational evaluators, psychiatrists, learning and behavioral specialists and other professionals. In such instances, Parent(s) and Tutorific will agree, in advance, to a ratio of preparation-to-delivery time expectations and additional case management fees that may apply. Preparation time will be billed at the prep rate as above.

Payment Expectations

Private tutoring: Invoices will be generated every month and sent to the email address provided. Payment may be made by EFT or cash.

Group tutoring: Invoices are generated per term, and divided into two or three payments depending on the dates of the term. Payment must be made for the term regardless of whether students attend all lessons.

Late payments: Late payments on invoices will be assessed a one hundred rand (Rl00) late fee if payment on an invoice is not received within 30 days. Late invoices will continue to accrue late fees for every successive thirty (30) day period that payment is not received. Parent will also be responsible for all legal recovery costs on a scale as between attorney and client should payment not be received within 30 days.

Intellectual Property

Tutorific shall own all worldwide right, title, and interest in and to any intellectual property existing or created by tutor in the process of performing tutoring services under the Agreement. Students and families may not share notes or other Tutorific resources with students not involved in our program. This includes sending pictures of notes/resources to other students as well as passing notes and resources down to younger students.

Non-Solicitation

Parent or Student shall not, during the term of this Agreement and for a period of one (1) year immediately following the termination of this Agreement, or any extension of it, for any reason, either directly or indirectly solicit or attempt to solicit the services of any tutor( s) provided by Tutorific for their personal use or for any other person or entity with which Parent or Student has an association.

Scheduling

If Student is allowed to set his or her own tutoring schedule as well as extend any lessons at their discretion please indicate below. Student is allowed to determine schedule:

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, each party has caused this Agreement to be executed individually or by its duly authorized representative effective as of the date first written.

By signing my name I am affirming that I understand and authorize all of the above.

Photo Waiver

I, the parent of a child/children at Tutorific Academic Tutoring Centre (Hereinafter known as "Tutorific"), agree to the following: I understand that my child(ren) whose name(s) are listed below may be photographed at Tutorific during normal tutoring hours or activities. I understand that these photographs may be used in promoting tutoring services, either in print or on the Internet. The child(ren) are named as above.

With my signature below I grant permission for my child(ren) to be photographed, or their images recorded for print or electronic use in promoting Tutorific 's services. I understand that it is my responsibility to update this form in the event that I no longer wish to authorize the above uses. I agree that this form will remain in effect during the term of my child's enrollment. I understand that there will be no payment for me or my child's participation in this release.
